Prevent Identity Theft, Protect National Security

Today's hyperconnected world poses very real threats to national security, as well as the well-being of its citizens. As part of efforts to mitigate risks involving the theft, cloning, reprogramming and/or unauthorised use and distribution of mobile handsets, governments are well-advised to establish, safeguard and monitor a national registry comprising critical operator and subscriber data. An example would be the IMEI number of a handset, its ownership, make and model. This centralised database would essentially function to address and mitigate all escalating concerns around security and legality, and ensure regulatory authorities have quick access to priority information as and when it is needed. Safety and integrity of operator and subscriber data is critical to the success and effectiveness of such a high-value database.

Central Equipment Identification Management System

Leveraging on the successful implementation and installation of the components of the common infrastructure, hardware and software, telecom equipment and data transmission network, KelniGVG has been successful in implementing a strong and secure digital identity as well as mobile device verification through the Central Equipment Identification Management System (CEIMS).

Key Features

The CEIMS solution covers two main components.

Mobile Device Verification System

A centralised mobile device registry, governed by the respective regulatory agencies, for the registration and verification of handsets being used on operator networks

SIM Card Registration System

A subscriber identification system governed by the respective regulatory agencies. Includes the SIM registry workflow, cryptographically secure and blockchain-enabled subscriber registration process, and a Central Equipment Identity Register for the registration and verification of handsets used on operator networks

Key Outcomes

The solution promotes transparency and compliance in the telecom sector.

Curb mobile phone thefts and cloning

Reduce illegal imports and counterfeits

Combat terrorist activities

Accelerate response by regulatory agencies

What is the Common Platform?

The Common Platform (CP) is a digital collection mechanism encompassing Fraud Management, Traffic Monitoring, Revenue Assurance and Mobile Money Monitoring services.
